My name is Janice Rouse and I am the Director of Health Care Services and the district’s Registered Nurse and am housed at the High School.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart, John for 37 years and we have two children, John, a thrower’s coach for the SMU track team,  Jill who is pursuing a teaching career in American Sign Language, and our precious daughter-in-law Corbin.  We have lived in Emory only 7 years but plan to retire in this wonderful community where we have made many friends.

I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years and graduated  from Texas Women's University on the campus of Parkland Hospital  and the UT Health Science Center.  I worked at Medical City Dallas  Hospital for 30 years where I started out as a student nurse.  I worked in various areas including Telemetry where I cared for  patients with heart disease, angina and post open heart surgery.  Later I went to work in the operating room and even after becoming  a school nurse in 1996, continued my position in the OR during summers and school holidays until we moved to Austin in 2010.

In my spare time I like to travel, sew, paint, estate-sale shop and swim.  I also enjoy tailgating Texas Longhorn football games with my family and friends.

I am in my 23rd year of school nursing and continue to see each day as a new adventure.  I believe that children learn best when they know they are loved, healthy, and cared for.  I believe that all children have a desire and an ability to learn and that it is the responsibility of those closest to them to lead by example.

Hello, my name is Julie Barlow and I am the Nurse Aide at the Junior High campus.  I’ve been married to my husband Ricky, for 25 years and are the proud parents of 3 wonderful children and 1 daughter-in-law, Joshua  and his wife Chris, Zak and Brittney a student at UT Tyler.

My hobbies include cooking, fishing, laying out in my pool with a good book in the summer and spending time with my family.

This is my 13th year at RISD and my third year as the nurse aide at the junior high.  Since I’ve been with RISD for so long I already know most of the students here and most of them remember me.  I love being able to help people when they need me and I look forward to helping your children.

My name is Sonja Taylor and this is my third year at Rains ISD as the Nurse Aide at the intermediate campus.  Previously I was the director for Tender Learning Center in Grand Saline for 15 years.  Emory has been my home for 27 years. I have 3 children, Stephen, Andrew, and Kaley who all attended and graduated from Rains ISD.

I am an active member of Believers’ Baptist Church in Emory and participate in a variety of church sponsored activities in our community.  I enjoy Geocaching, scrapbooking, shopping, socializing with my church family and spending time with my family at home.

This position at the Intermediate School is rewarding and challenging but most of all satisfying and exciting.  I love the precious children that I have contact with and pray that I may, in some small way be an inspiration in their lives.
