You can become a substitute teacher!

How to Apply

  1. Fill out a substitute teacher application.

  2. Contact Human Resources for an appointment. Please bring the following items with you for your scheduled time:

    • Social Security Card

    • Driver's License or state issued ID

    • Pre-filled forms for HR (linked below)

  3. Once your paperwork is cleared, you will be able to log into the ReadySub system and begin signing up for days. You can view the ReadySub User Guide here.

  4. Substitute training is held once a semester and you MUST attend the next available meeting. Register to attend by emailing brimerk@rainsisd.org.

*Please note that you will need to provide verification of education. The minimum education requirement for this position is a GED, but college hours and alternative certifications will be considered.

Rains ISD substitute teacher training for the 2023-2024 school year will be Friday, November 10, 2023 at the High School Library. The next set of trainings will take place on January 10, 2024.

Daily Rates

Substitutes for Professional Positions

  • $125.00 for Certified Teachers

  • $115.00 for College Degree

  • $100.00 for 60+ college hours

  • $90.00 for non-degreed

Substitutes for Education Aides

  • $90.00 based on the assignment, not substitute’s credentials
