STATE REQUIRED HEALTH SCREENING:

Each year Texas law requires the following screening exams:

VISION & HEARING

​All 4 year old students in PK and Head Start,  Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 7th grade will be screened by the Christmas break.   If a student fails a screening, they will be re-screened within 4 weeks.  If they fail a second time the child will be sent home with a referral notice recommending they see a physician.  

SPINAL  

All girls in 5th and 7th grade and all boys in 8th grade will be screened in the fall.  Notices will go home to parents aproximately 2 weeks prior to the screening date.  If a student fails a screening they will be re-screened within 4 weeks.  If they fail a second time the child will be sent home with a referral notice recommending they see a physician.
