Get to Know Rains ISD - Jennifer Melton, Junior High Principal - Years in Education: 22, Previous Job: Dir. of Special Education, College: Texas A&M Commerce, Why Rains ISD? Rains ISD had the reputation of hiring only seasoned and high caliber teachers. I wanted to be a part of that elite group so I could learn from the best. - 3 Fun Facts: 1. I love music but I cannot carry a tune in a bucket. My brother, dad and mom on the other hand are very musically inclined. 2. Johnny Wayne and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in July. 3. I can touch my tongue to my nose.

Please read the following letter from the Superintendent pertaining to district closure for the remainder of the week.

Wildcat Family, Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and other illnesses, Rains ISD will be closing and suspending all extracurricular activities for the remainder of the week. The combination of a review of attendance, the rising number of positive cases, and the consultation with medical professionals helped us make this decision. Classes will resume Tuesday, September 7th with busses running as normal. We will be taking this time to thoroughly clean all facilities and distance everyone as much as possible. We ask that during this closure you help us by keeping your children socially distanced from others and out of group situations, and please be mindful of safety protocols. It is our hope that this time away will also allow those that are sick time to heal and minimize the spread. While we are out, rapid testing at school will be suspended. If your child has symptoms and needs to be tested, we ask that you consult a physician for testing and please report positive results to Trinity Edwards at edwardst@rainsisd.org or leave a message at 903-473-2222 ext 2154. Per UIL guidance: Students Who Have COVID-19 A student who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 must receive clearance from a physician prior to returning to participation in UIL marching band or athletic activities. As provided in this Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Rule, school systems must exclude students from attending school in person who are actively sick with COVID-19, who are suspected of being actively sick with COVID-19, or who have received a positive test result for COVID-19, and must immediately notify parents if this is determined while on campus. Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is test-confirmed with COVID-19 until the conditions for re-entry are met.
REMINDER: TODAY is the last day for season ticket holders to purchase their reserved seats! If your season tickets are not purchased by today, they will be released for purchase by the general public TOMORROW, August 31. 🎟💙 #CodeBlue #LetsGoWildcats

Good Friday afternoon Wildcat family! Beginning Monday, August 30, 2021 In an effort to better serve our families, we are changing our process for COVID-19 rapid testing. If your child is at home sick with related symptoms and you believe they need to be tested for COVID-19, you may call during regular school hours to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be available daily from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at three campuses. The number to call in order to schedule an appointment is 903-473-2222 ext. 1415. You will be told during this call what campus to report to and what time to report. As a result of TEA requirements, Rains ISD will be notifying parents/guardians when a student testing positive for COVID-19 has been determined to be in attendance in their child’s class by the following method: Parents/guardians of students in a class where a positive COVID-19 case has been determined will receive a Skyward email. Students determined to be close contact will be notified by a phone call from the district as soon as possible. Please help us by making sure that your email address and phone number are updated in the Skyward system. At this time the number of positive covid cases in the district is increasing. Rains ISD will continue to monitor the situation and work to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff. The covid dashboard on the Rains ISD website will be updated daily. We would once again like to remind you that we do have rapid testing available at each campus nurse's office free of charge for students and staff. If a parent or guardian would rather not test at school, they may provide the school with test results administered by a physician or pharmacy. We cannot take results from at-home testing at this time. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at rains@rainsisd.org.
