[9/12/24] We would like to give you an update on our monitoring and response to recent social media posts. Part of the social media scare yesterday involved a list of several hundred schools that someone had downloaded from TEA (targeted support list) and then posted with statements threatening gun violence on 9/11. Rains is on the list with hundreds of other schools. Last night a copy of a text message began circulating among our local community saying they had seen the list of schools and that people should be careful. The texter names schools in the area that they saw on the list including Rains and several others. This text appears to be based on the list from yesterday and does not seem to be a threat. Our security protocols remain in place and safety remains our top priority. Joe Nicks Superintendent Rains ISD

There are currently no specific or credible threats made against Rains ISD. We continue to monitor the situation and have assured our security measures are in place. Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Joe Nicks Superintendent Rains ISD

In a heartfelt show of unity, we invite everyone to come together and wear blue on Wednesday, September 4th, to honor the lives lost in a tragic event that has deeply affected our community. By donning this color, we not only show our respect for the precious Grandy family but also demonstrate our collective strength and resilience during this incredibly challenging time. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the surrounding school districts and community members who have expressed their love and support in the midst of this tragedy. Your acts of kindness and solidarity mean more than words can convey. Together, let us stand united in blue, embodying the hope and compassion that binds us as one community. 💙

Rains Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the amendment to the 2024-2025 school calendar on Monday, August 26, 2024. As part of this amendment, the last day of school is now set for May 29th rather than June 5th, with graduation scheduled for May 30th rather than June 6th. To accommodate this earlier conclusion to the school year, some instructional days from the first week of June have been redistributed. Specifically, three school days have been added to the Fridays immediately following Spring Break (March 21, 28, and April 4), making these Fridays full school days for all students and staff. This adjustment presents a valuable opportunity to enhance instructional time leading up to the STAAR testing. Thank you for your support as we implement this calendar amendment.
